Here are a few photos from our family holiday to Corfu. It was a lovely holiday and we were joined by a large group of family which made it even better.  We stayed at the Sidari Water Park Hotel in Corfu, the staff were fantastic and the children (and adults) had lots of fun on the slides.  Although it was early season and the resorts were quiet, we had a lovely holiday.  Greece is one of my favourite holiday destinations, i love the food, the sea, the people and it always seems really laid back.

As nice as it would be to be back there, I am looking forward to tomorrows wedding and all the weddings and photo shoots to come in the following months.

For the photographers, a few images were taken using the Olympus E-P1 & 17mm Pancake Lens but most images were taken using my iPhone (I didn’t want to spend the holiday stressing about getting good photos so decided to just use my iPhone to capture random moments).

Apps used were Hipstamatic and Pano and I also made use of the iDry case.
The iDry case was fantastic and kept the iPhone completely dry underwater enabling me to capture some fun underwater shots.

(Warning – I knew the risk I was taking using the iDry case and hold no responsibily should you use one and it fail, all it takes is a speck of dust or hair and it could leak.)

Maybe as a photographer we see things differently, we see more than what’s in front of us.

On the drive back from this mornings pre wedding session I saw a few moments which most people would not think too much of but I didn’t just see those moments, I automatically started composing the image as if shooting through the camera and began thinking of the emotional value those images may hold in 10, 20 or 30 years’ time and the effect of that moment on the future.

In the image I could see the decision making going on as the boy and father stand next to the car presumably discussing whether or not to buy it.  I could also imagine the changes, freedom and independence that would follow in the boys’ life once he bought the car.  Imagine the boy seeing that image in 30 years, perhaps his father may have passed but the image would provide a priceless reminder of a moment if their lives.

A Grandmother and her Grandson as she stooped down to help him blow dandelion seeds. A beautiful moment unfolded as the Grandmother and Grandson were walking along, suddenly she stopped; knelt down and picked up a dandelion clock and helped her grandson blow the seedlings.  Again, imagine you are that boy and you see that image many years later.  It would provide a beautiful and priceless reminder of a moment you may not have even remembered.

An elderly couple walking hand in hand. A sight often seen but as an image tells a story, you can imagine their long life together, what’s it been like?  What do they do that enables them to still be in love and walk hand in hand after all those years?

The importance of photography in our lives should not be underestimated.  Life is a series of moments and a photographer who captures these moments can capture and preserve not only a beautiful image but also a story containing emotions and memories forever.

As a wedding photographer I am fortunate to witness beautiful moments often and being able to capture those is the most satisfying job ever.  Knowing the value those images may hold in the future is extremely rewarding.

For those like me who can never say no to coffee and cake, I can highly recommend a visit to Los Cabos in Heswall to sample one of Liah’s lovely cupcakes.

It’s not often I get the time to shoot some images of my family, especially when I’m in them so I couldn’t miss the opportunity to grab a few shots whilst we had the beautiful weather over the weekend.  We drove to a local rapeseed field on Saturday & Sunday to take a few family photos.  I was joined by my son – Isaac, daughter – Phoebe, wife – Niecey (Deniece) and sister-in-law – Logsy (Lauren).

Although I’m self employed you’d be surprised at how difficult it is to get a day off to spend quality time with my wife and children.  So last Friday I took the day off and my mum, wife and two beautiful children went over to Liverpool on the train.  We took a ride on the Liverpool Wheel which (on a clear day) gives amazing views over Liverpool & Wirral.  After a wander around the Albert Dock we had lunch at the new ferry terminal and took the ferry back over to Birkenhead.  Here’s a few of my favourite images. 

These images remind me how important photographs are, memories of moments easily fade so it’s always nice to have photo’s to look back on and remind you of those special times.  I am very lucky to have a job which enables me to capture memories for people to treasure and share.

SNOW    I can’t remember the last time I saw this much snow here, it’s not often we get snow so I had to grab a few shots.  Everywhere just looks beautiful covered in a white blanket. I took a walk through the local cemetery which leads to Bidston Hill where I took a few shot’s of the Windmill.

With more snow forecast over the next few days there’ll be more pics to come soon  

Here’s a few of my first images from 2010 taken during a family meet up at West Kirby, Wirral.  Although very cold, we had a great day and the sunset was beautiful.

I would like to wish you all a happy and prosperous 2010.  I am really looking forward to this year and aim to set higher goals and keep pushing my photography with the aim of constantly learning and providing new and better services for my clients.

I took a break from blogging and photographing over the christmas period but couldn’t resist popping over to Liverpool to take a few shots of the snow as it’s not often I get the chance.
